If you’re like most people and still have some leftover leaves and other plant debris leftover from the winter, then you will want to get that out of the way first. Here is what you’ll need. 

• Leaf blower or rake. You will want to move all of the leaves and other large pieces into a single pile in order to be picked up and thrown away.
• Gloves and large trash bags and trash cans. Once everything has been gathered into a pile, now is the time for you to put it into leaf bags or in your garbage bin.
• Outdoor rated broom and dust pan. Now that the big stuff is mostly out of the way, it’s time to sweep. Start high and work your way low by using your broom or similar tool to brush away the cobwebs from your home’s walls and around the gutters. After that’s been taken care of, you can then sweep up the patio or deck area and dump it. 

Deep Clean the Deck or Patio Surface

Next, it’s time to deep clean your deck or patio to get it party ready! You will want to rent or borrow a power washer with a lower power setting especially if you have a wood party area. You can use a higher pressure washer setting for cement, or you can use a hose with a high pressure attachment in a pinch. Spray down your patio surface, making sure to get all of the dust, dirt, and other buildups off that have accumulated since last summer. Once it’s dry, then you will want to apply a quick coat of your favorite sealant or stain, especially ones that help to keep the wood hydrated and protected from the elements. 

Clean the Grill or Outdoor Kitchen Area

Take the cover off your grill and inspect everything to make sure it is in safe operating order. Remove the grill panels and set those in the sink with some concentrated dish soap to soak. Clean them with a stiff brush after about an hour. In the meantime, wipe down your grill’s surfaces with a damp cloth and clean out any leftover charcoal and replace it with fresh charcoal or a fresh gas canister.
