It’s time to go up, up and away as Boise gets ready to celebrate and experience the most spectacular display of hot air balloons to ascend into the sky. This extravaganza will take over Boise’s sky each morning starting Wednesday, August 28 through Sunday, September 1, 2019, during the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic presented by CapEd Credit union.
This family-friendly event will take place in beautiful Ann Morrison Park and fill the sky above and throughout the Boise valley with colorful hot air balloons. Also, there are many fun family activities planned for this five-day event that you won’t want to miss. The schedule is as follows:
Day One- Wednesday, August 28, CapEd Kid's Day
The hot air balloons are scheduled to start taking off at 6:45 a.m., weather permitting. They will float high overhead until the balloons run low on air by around 8:45 a.m. Bring your kids on down to the park and enjoy a complimentary tethered balloon ride on Kid’s Day. Various activities will be planned throughout the park for the whole family during the festival. Be sure to mark your calendar and get up a little early to take your kids to see the balloons before school starts and enjoy a beautiful morning together watching the skies.
Day Two- Thursday, August 29, Media Day
The media is welcome to stop by and learn more about the 2019 event. Festivities will start around 6:45 a.m. and continue through 8:45 a.m.
Day Three- Friday, August 30, VIP Launch Day
This will be a spectacular day to take pictures. Countless hot air balloons will take to the sky. Boise’s skyline will be filled with colorful hot air balloons of all shapes and colors. Balloons are scheduled to take off around 6:45 a.m. Don't be late!
Friday, August 30, Night Glow
Make sure to stop by Friday night at Ann Morrison Park in the evening as friends and family sprawl out on blankets to watch the annual spectacular night time glow show. Watch in awe and be amazed as the hot air balloons fill will fire and light up for an epic show with music. This event is free and is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Event coordinators encourage the public to leave their furry friends at home as noises undetectable to humans can cause extreme discomfort to pets.
Day Four- Saturday, August 31, Morning Launch
It may be the weekend, but you will want to rise and shine for the Saturday morning launch! It starts at 6:45 a.m. and again this will be a spectacular sight to see as tons of amazing colorful balloons flood the skies.
Day Five- Sunday, September 1, Morning Launch
The early bird gets the worm! Come out and experience the final day of the 2019 Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic. The hot air balloons will take to the sky and there will be plenty of photo opportunities and fun for all.
