It seems hard to believe but spring is just about here and that means Spring Break is right around the corner. Although it feels like we just got the Christmas decorations down and we are still getting the occasional snow, spring is knocking on the door. For those of us with kids we are facing the question of what to do for Spring Break. Luckily we are blessed to live in the beautiful Treasure Valley where there is an endless list of things to do. We put together a selection of options from high action to totally chill and we took the unpredictable local weather into account, giving you options for rain or shine.

High Action

For the family that is looking to get their adrenaline pumping on Spring Break there are plenty of things to get your thrills. If the weather is nice, head to Jump Creek. A short trail weaves through awesome rock formations and ends at a spectacular waterfall. From there you can keep exploring different trails and have fun bouldering. Or head to Bruneau Sand Dunes and surf the sand on the tallest single dune in North America. Be sure to take some kites because the wind is usually perfect for kite flying.

If it's more rain than shine head to one of the Treasure Valley’s indoor climbing gyms. Even if your family has never climbed before they can have an incredible experience since most climbing gyms offer auto belay. Auto belay means that you and your kids can climb with the safety of a rope without having to know how to belay. If climbing is not quite your thing you can reach heights another way at one of the many indoor trampoline parks. Flip and flop while getting in a great workout at a place where you can literally jump off the walls. Keep active this break at one or all of these great options.

More Mellow

Grab the family and head to Julia Davis Park in downtown for Zoo Boise. Fun for any age you can enjoy taking in the various animal exhibits. Have your sack lunch next to the lions, peer in at the penguins underwater, and even get a chance to feed a giraffe. The visual spectacle of the wild world is matched with the thoughtful interpretation helping you learn a little about these beautiful animals while you watch their entertaining antics. From there unwind on a walk along the greenbelt or play in one of the many adjacent parks.

If the weather makes this outdoor option fall flat head to Meridian’s The Village. There are plenty of options in this one awesome location to please even the pickiest person in the family. From gaming arcades to feature films and tons of shops to browse in between. End the day with a family meal at one of the many eateries on site.

We hope these options help you get started planning a great Spring Break where you can spend meaningful time with your entire family and make memories that can last a lifetime.
