At 208 Cleaning Co., we are proud to serve the Treasure Valley and beyond with the best in commercial and residential cleaning services. We’re also proud to be using a wide variety of “green” and eco-friendly cleaning products in our work. Going “green” doesn’t just mean replacing a product or two in our everyday work. It is a whole new approach to responsible cleaning practices that changes every process, top to bottom. Let’s explore some of what we do and why we believe going green is important for our customers, our employees, and our environment. After all. We love Boise and we want to keep it clean and safe for years to come!

208 Cleaning Co. Green Cleaning Service

It Starts With The Attitude
Simon Sinek says that “people don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it.” According to him, it all starts with “why.” And he’s exactly right. Many companies may make the choice to fully or partially use environmentally conscious cleaning products, but they may be doing it for the wrong reasons: profit margins. They think that if they “go green” then that means they can charge more for the same results as before with a huge markup. Sounds great if you’re on the board of investors, but it’s not really why any company should be going green at all.

208 Cleaning Co. uses eco-friendly cleaning products because we firmly believe that the environment and the people and animals that have to live in it are important: more important than a bottom line on a balance sheet. We believe that being good stewards of the earth is the right thing to do. Cleaning products of yesteryear are also incredibly harsh and toxic, which is not only bad for the environment in general but for the people that come in contact with them.

Going green is about protecting the people and lands in the place that you love. It starts with an attitude of wanting to do better than we have done before.

The Products: Where The Rubber Meets The Road

Better For Life
Better For Life” products, including their flagship All Purpose Cleaner.
This cleaner is all natural and non-toxic and is derived from plant based ingredients. It is safe around kids, pets, and is not toxic to the water supply. Breathing this in does not cause respiratory harm.

Mrs. Meyers
We also like to use the “Mrs. Meyers” line of eco-friendly cleaning products. According to their website they “combine garden inspired scents, essential oils, and plant-derived cleaning ingredients to clean kitchen messes and all over the house,” for their all purpose cleaner, similar to the one above. They pride themselves on providing responsibly sourced, non-toxic, and family friendly cleaning products.

Compared to Clorox’s popular Formula 409 All Purpose Cleaner:
According to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) published on their own website, found here, this cleaner is “very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.” It is also shown to be an “acute health hazard” according to the SARA 311/312 Hazard Categories, also found on the MSDS. Formula 409 gets a “high concern” rating for environmental risks according to the Environmental Working Group’s website’s review of the product and an “F” rating overall which deems it as containing: “potentially significant hazards to health or the environment.”

Which cleaner would you want your kids and pets exposed to everyday?

Conclusion
Now, we’re not necessarily trying to toot our own horn here. We just want people to know what we are about and why we do the things we do. It is important to know the “why” behind what a company does, especially if it has a potentially significant impact on people and the environment. After all, we only have one Earth, so let’s take care of it!
