Sure, the summertime is a great time, and arguably the best time to have fun in the outdoors in the great state of Idaho, but the fall offers a surprisingly large amount of excellent family friendly activities for all to enjoy. Whether you’re in Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, or Eagle, there’s no shortage of festive activities to help you celebrate the best parts of fall. Here’s your guide to some of the most beloved seasonal adventures right here in the Treasure Valley.
Pick the Perfect Pumpkin at Local Farms
Pumpkin patches are not unique to Idaho by a long shot, but we do have a large number of them to choose from, which is a direct reflection on our amazingly fertile soil and rich, deep-rooted farm culture that permeates our lifestyle. Here are some of our favorites that we recommend stopping by this year.

- If you’re looking for a smaller, more low-key outing, Jordan’s Pumpkin Patch off of Cole road provides a relaxed atmosphere and great views of Idaho farmland. It’s the perfect spot for those who love the rustic simplicity of fall.

- Well worth the drive out to Nampa, Shindig Farms is a great place to bring some family for some good old fashioned farmstead fun. They have a ton of attractions from the pumpkin patch, (of course) to unique straw maze, zip line, giant slide, corn pit and jungle gym play area, a jump pad, mechanical bull, and more!

- Here is another one that is a bit of a drive to get to, but well worth the trip. Just as the name implies, The Berry Ranch is a fantastic place to pick berries of all kinds like fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, peaches, and sweet corn. During the fall, you can pick your own pumpkins and also explore the rest of the real working farm. You can see the chickens, beehives, lambs, cows, and more! They have a great store that is open year round which offers seasonal farm fresh food you will love all year round.
Best Apple Orchard Recommendations
Pumpkins might get all the attention, but apples are another star of fall in Idaho. Many Treasure Valley farms welcome visitors to pick their own apples or sample freshly pressed cider.
- Tyler’s Rocky Point Orchard

-
- Located just north of the valley, Tyler’s Rocky Point Orchard is a beautiful escape from the city. Visitors can pick apples, pears, and plums and even try their hand at making homemade cider!
- Cabalo’s Orchard and Gardens
-
- This family-run orchard grows organic apples and offers fresh cider in the fall. They also sell seasonal produce, baked goods, and other local products, making it a great weekend destination.
