With summer in full swing, it can be daunting to think of new ways day after day to beat the heat. You can only go swimming so many times before your hands and feet feel like prunes and your ears feel like they have half the ocean in them. Well, one place that we know that has the best air conditioning in town along with the most comfy seats and tasty snacks is your local neighborhood movie theater! A great and time-honored way to beat the heat and have a great time doing it. Heck, with all the great movies coming out this summer, you might just be tempted to sneak into another showing. We’ve put together a quick little guide for your summer movie enjoyment.

Top Gun: Maverick (May 27) PG-13

Talk about a throwback! This much anticipated and asked for sequel is torching off an already jam packed summer of great blockbusters. You won’t want to miss this classic that already has the critics raving and fans flocking.

Jurassic World Dominion (June 10) PG-13

That’s right, it’s hard to tell whether it’s the 90’s or the 2020’s sometimes because both Top Gun and Jurassic Park are in theaters right now, but we promise you, you haven’t been sucked into a time portal. It’s just that those loveable folks in Hollywood can’t help but make great reboots of family loved classics. Go back to Jurassic Park this summer and beat the heat with some great special effects and fast paced dinosaur action.

Lightyear (June 17) PG

Buzz Lightyear has a special place in the hearts of any kids who grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s. This movie explores the story behind the toy in an imaginative romp through infinity and beyond!

Minions: The Rise of Gru (July 1) PG

Although it is a sequel, it isn’t a reboot of a beloved 80’s or 90’s movie. But, that’s ok because nobody’s perfect. The Minions are back and funnier than ever with this latest adventure. Come for the comedic pratfalls and stay for the family friendly warmth.

Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8) PG-13

While this isn’t quite as big as 2012’s The Avengers, this newest Thor standalone sequel has an epic scale and an all-star cast including Natalie Portman (Léon: The Professional), Christian Bale (Empire of the Sun), and Russell Crowe (The Crossing), and many others. You will want to bring lots of snacks and drinks because this one is a tad on the long side at 1HR 59MIN, but it is worth being in the cool air conditioned theater with good friends and snacks.
